Roadmap:
CEQT plans to set up international collaborations in this field, and take help of an international advisory committee to guide the research effort.
CEQT plans to train and hire skilled researchers in this cutting-edge research field, at the student, the post-doctoral and the faculty level
CEQT will hold periodic workshops and meetings in this field, to keep abreast of the latest developments, and also to motivate young researchers.
CEQT will update its objectives and priorities along with latest developments in the field, by holding periodic reviews.
Objectives (over 3 years):
- At least 8 qubit quantum superconducting transmon processors, with basic characterisation and demonstration of toy applications.
- Demonstration of quantum information transfer between circuit QED and quantum acoustic modes, in mesoscale and nanoscale devices.
- Design and development of control electronics for solid state quantum systems.
- Characterisation and fabrication of single qubit components of high precision electromagnetic and mechanical sensors.
- Development of heralded photon sources, providing on-demand entangled photons.
- Demonstration of 2D materials based single-photon sensors with nanosecond resolution.
- Establishment of a campus-wide quantum communications network.
- Novel algorithms for quantum supremacy demonstration and quantum simulations.
- Protocols for post-quantum cryptography and quantum-safe communications.
